A complete renovation and restoration of a historic listed property in Appledore, North Devon, carried out by Robeda Joinery and Robeda Construction.
The Sea Chest is a historic property in Market Street, Appledore, with origins dating back several centuries and a long association with the town's maritime past.
The building had previously been used as a fishing tackle and chandlery shop, with adjoining residential accommodation. Robeda Construction and Robeda Joinery carried out a comprehensive renovation and restoration of the shop, flat and cottage, creating modern interiors while retaining the character and important historic features of the property.
Traditional and listed features were carefully preserved, including historic carpentry, flooring, cob walls, lath and plaster, original timber rafters and the shopfront's wooden corbel mouldings.
The original front door was restored, while new bespoke timber windows, doors, flooring, window cills and a staircase were manufactured in our Bideford joinery workshop and installed as part of the project.
